Gate Guard Blues

“The “bishop” came to my church today.. that guy was an imposter, he never once moved diagonally.” – Unknown

It’s been awhile. These past few weeks have been interesting, challenging, and frustrating.

For openers, our 15-year-old Van quit on me on a Sunday morning in the middle of nowhere. And it was hot. Not a lot of fun. Nothing open. No options. No choice but to call the co man for help.

The death throes of the Van were making me nervous. Did not want my wife stranded like I was. So………….bought a car from a fellow gate guard.

Several days later I managed to spill water on my keyboard. Computer zipped and zapped and died. Can’t get by without one. So more outflow of funds for a new computer.

Windows 8 is NOT a good thing.

All of this within the globe of triple digit heat, dust, dirt, and frayed nerves.

Folks……………I’ve got the Gate Guard Blues.

Seems like every July/August I swear this will be the last summer we Gate Guard. And yet, here we are. Year after year.

The price we pay for some of the dumb decisions we made in the past.

Don’t get me wrong. I am thankful that this opportunity exists. But for the oil/gas business, God only knows where or what would be our situation. But man, the heat and dirt of July/August just beat us down.

Sorry for the downer folks. This too will pass. November…………..please hurry.

Hang in there, Bob! Things should start looking a lot better once we get through August. Sorry to hear everything has fallen a part all at once. Glad you are safe and were able to get another car.
At least YOU haven’t fallen a part! πŸ˜€

Surprise….surprise. Wow. Haven’t heard from you in awhile. Good to know you are still out there. Trust you and Heidie are doing well.
This heat does get me down. Just can’t seem to get out of a funk. Time.

I wondered what happened to you. You have my sympathy and I join you in absolutely unequivocally hating Windows 8. It’s more work than Windows 7. My laptop needed the screen fixed a couple of months ago and we didn’t know how long it would take. So, we bought another laptop and it had the dreaded Windows 8 on it. I’m usually pretty good about working with updated versions of software but this one has no redeeming value in my opinion. Oh, in case you didn’t get the message…I loathe Windows 8:)
