Celebration

“There is nothing so stupid as the educated man if you get him off the thing he was educated in.” –  Will Rogers

Memorial Day. It is especially significant to me for a couple of reasons.

CEMETARY

One is obvious and requires nothing of you or me but recognition, celebration, and reverence.

The other is relevant only to Gaby and me. Forty-Five years ago, on May 30, 1968, we got married.

45

The longevity of that contract and all that transpired during it are important to us but insignificant to all others.

However,  it also requires recognition, celebration, and reverence.

The most important thing, it seems, to a wife, is to remember the anniversary. That is not high on the guy list of important dates unless, of course, self-preservation is an issue. Then we remember.

Our anniversary shares a date with a National Holiday and is therefore easy to remember. How cool is that? Is it by accident or design? Hmmmm.

Congratulations. There aren’t that many people whose marriages make it to that lovely number. Obviously, you two have found the combination. It’s nice to read about a couple who have weathered the good times and bad and are still steady in their relationship. I would imagine that it makes looking back at memories a real joy.

Well…………we’ve found something…..that’s for sure. I’m actually glad we made it. I would not want to be alone at this point in my life. I don’t think I’m hard to live with but everybody wonders how Gaby does it. But then, everybody says that about every woman in every marriage. Go figure………….
